You should be able to return to your usual activities a few weeks after your heart attack or other heart problem. Talk to your doctor or cardiac rehabilitation team about when you can start different activities again and how to pace your program.

You can travel straightaway by public transport, or as a passenger in a car. You’ll need to talk with your doctor about when it’s safe to fly and to drive. There might also be some changes to your licence and insurance.

Support for independent living

Support groups

You or your carer might find it useful to meet people who are in similar situations, either in your area or online. There are support groups around Australia that organise regular exercise sessions, such as walking groups, as well as other social activities.
